About
India has 20 GW of idle power generation capacity, yet we face 15-16 hours of power cuts in rural India. Why does this happen? Because 59% of our power generation is fossil fuel based. India does not have fossil fuel reserves yet we keep building fossil fuel based capacity which ultimately lies idle. The solution to this problem is Solar Power. However, large scale solar power has to be dependent on the creaky power infrastructure (32% transmission losses) and there is very little of hope of this improving because utilities which own this infrastructure are under a massive debt of $ 50 Billion. There rooftop solar is the best possible solution to improve the power situation in India and power the economic growth. However, huge initial investment is the hurdle which is stopping the rooftop solar in India. We remove this hurdle by offering rooftop solar to our customers at no upfront cost. In return they pay for the amount of electricity used at a discounted price to the grid rate.
